Logout vs Clear App Data on Punch — What's the Difference?

Logging out ends your session. Clearing app data erases everything locally, like a fresh install of Punch.

These two actions look similar but have very different effects on your Punch app.

What each option does

Action

What is removed

What is kept

Logout

Active session only

Registration, biometric setup, cached preferences

Clear app data

Everything locally — registration, biometric enrolment, cached preferences

Server-side data (watchlists, positions, holdings)

When to use each

Logout — When you want to end your session and log back in later. You can log back in immediately without re-registering.

Clear app data — When you need to start fresh, such as switching to a different mobile number. Go to your phone's Settings → Apps → Punch → Clear Data. You will need to register and set up biometrics again.

Your watchlists, order history, positions, and holdings are stored on the server — neither option deletes them.
