Why Aadhaar verification is required?
SEBI mandates that every trading and Demat account must be linked to your Aadhaar number. If you skip this step, your account could face restrictions on transactions or even be closed. This is not a Punch-specific rule — it applies to every broker in India.
How Punch verifies your Aadhaar?
Instead of asking you to upload documents manually, Punch fetches your Aadhaar and PAN details directly from DigiLocker — a government-backed digital storage platform where documents like Aadhaar, PAN, driving licence, and voter ID are stored securely.
During account opening, you will be prompted to connect to DigiLocker.
Authorize Punch to access your Aadhaar and PAN details.
The information is pulled in automatically, saving you from manual data entry.
What if DigiLocker only has one of your documents?
If DigiLocker has your Aadhaar but not your PAN (or vice versa), you will be asked to enter the missing details manually. This is a quick step and only requires typing in the document number and a few personal details.
