KRA stands for KYC Registration Agency — and no, you do not need to know which one yours is.

Understanding KRA

A KYC Registration Agency (KRA) is an organization registered with SEBI that stores and manages KYC (Know Your Customer) details for investors across India. Think of it as a central database where your identity and address information is kept on file so you do not have to redo KYC every time you open a new investment account.

India has five KRAs: CDSL Ventures, DotEx, Karvy, NDML, and CAMS.

Do you need to know which KRA you belong to?

Not at all. When you enter your PAN during account opening on Punch, the system automatically identifies which KRA holds your records and coordinates with them behind the scenes. You do not need to look up, remember, or select a KRA at any point.
