Custom watchlists on Punch
Punch lets you create up to 3 custom watchlists to track the instruments you care about. These sit alongside pre-made watchlists like Nifty 50 and Bank Nifty.
How to create a watchlist
Open the Punch app.
Navigate to the Watchlists section.
Tap Create Watchlist or the + icon.
Your new watchlist is created (named Watchlist 1, 2, or 3 by default).
Adding scrips to a watchlist
You can add unlimited scrips to each custom watchlist, including option contracts.
Open the watchlist you want to add to.
Tap Add scrip or the search icon.
Search for the stock, future, index, or option contract — search supports option strikes and expiries directly.
Tap the scrip to add it.
Both equity and option scrips can sit in the same watchlist.
Managing your watchlists
Reorder scrips — Drag and drop within a watchlist to set your preferred order.
Delete scrips — Remove any scrip by tapping the delete/remove icon.
Switch between watchlists — Swipe or tap the watchlist name to navigate between them.
Sorting your watchlist
Tap the sort control at the top of a watchlist to choose how scrips are ordered.
Sorting applies instantly — no refresh needed. Your last choice is remembered the next time you open Punch.
Switching back to Custom at any time restores the order you set manually.
Grouping by asset type
Toggle Group by Type to split a watchlist into three sections: Indices, Stocks, and Futures.
Grouping preserves the order within each section — it doesn't auto-sort the items. Turn grouping off and the list returns to your previous ungrouped order.
Example
Original order: RELIANCE, NIFTY 50, HDFCBANK, BANKNIFTY, NIFTY FUT, TCS
After enabling Group by Type:
Indices: NIFTY 50, BANKNIFTY
Stocks: RELIANCE, HDFCBANK, TCS
Futures: NIFTY FUT
The sequence inside each group matches the original appearance order.
How sorting and grouping interact
Sorting and grouping are independent.
Group off, sort on — Whole watchlist is sorted by your chosen option.
Group on, sort on — Sorting applies within each group (Indices, Stocks, Futures).
Group on, sort = Custom — Items keep their original order inside each group.
Q&A
Can I add option contracts to a Punch watchlist?
Yes. You can search for and add option scrips directly to any custom watchlist, alongside stocks, futures, and indices.
Will my sort choice persist?
Yes — Punch remembers your last sort selection per watchlist and applies it automatically when you return.
Does grouping work in heatmap mode?
No. Grouping is disabled when a watchlist is shown in Heatmap mode.
Can I rename custom watchlists?
Not yet. Custom watchlists keep their default names — Watchlist 1, Watchlist 2, Watchlist 3 — but you have full control over the scrips inside.
What's the difference between custom and pre-made watchlists?
Custom watchlists are fully editable — add, remove, reorder, sort, group. Pre-made watchlists (Nifty 50, Bank Nifty, sectoral indices) are curated and locked, but you can view them and copy individual scrips to your own watchlists.
Things to keep in mind
Three custom watchlists, unlimited scrips each. No cap on how many items go into one watchlist.
Custom order survives sorting. Picking a sort option doesn't overwrite the manual order — switching back to Custom brings it back.
Grouping doesn't sort. It only sections the list by asset type; ordering within each section follows your sort choice (or your custom order).
Search supports options. You can find specific strikes and expiries from the same search box used for stocks and futures.
